PORT OF MANTA

The Port of Manta is located at 25 miles from the international route and its access is direct. The coordinates of Manta are:

Lat 00º 55' 35'' S

Lon 80º 43' 02'' W

There is a direct road access to the Port, which permits a vehicular decongestion and helps to alleviate the heavy traffic that used to ride through the city. The direct road access is directly connected with a highway of the National Road System. (Manta- Salinas) (Manta – Portoviejo)

Two piers for container vessel with a length of 200-m.

1.2 General Berth

a) General cargo berth

- Two piers with a length of 200 meters.

b) Marginal Berths

- 1 berth with length of 150 meters and 7 meters of depth

- 2 berths with a length of 150 and 100 meters respectively, and 5.5 meters of depth.

c) Roll-on Roll -off berth (118.5 m2)

Security /Guards System.

The Port Authority of Manta privatized the Port Entrance security control and the external ring of the port facilities, as for piers and control towers. Every month , the Port Authority reviews the work of the security company to determine effectiveness of the security services.

The Ecuadorian navy does the waterside security of the Port.

If an unauthorized person is found on the Port facility and it is his first time being detained, that person is given a warning and escorted out of the Port facility after taking his name to be placed on file. The second time that an unauthorized person is found he will be arrested and given over to the local police.

If narcotics are found within the Port facility or upon a person or in a vehicle entering the terminal, the navy police, anti-narcotics police and Interpol are immediately contacted. The narcotics as well as any individuals involved are turned over to the police.
