PORT OF ESMERALDAS
The Port of Esmeraldas is
located in front of the Pacific Ocean, near to the Esmeraldas
River. Its position is:
Lat 00º 59' 39'' N
Lon 79º 38' 40'' W
The access to the Port is
direct, the protection of two breakwaters prevent damages
from waves, which make a basin of 42 acres.

TERMINAL /DEPOT
There are no container terminal,
but there is one pavement yard of 66.000 m2 for container
and other general cargo storage, that the port handles. There
is no empty container depot.

There is a private company,
taking care of the port security,
3. MISCELLANEUS
This port is mainly dedicated
to the reception of import cargo such as pipes, iron, steel,
paper bobbins, cement in bags, vehicles and machinery. The
main export cargoes are splinters (solid bulk), wood, and
banana (as general cargo). For these purpose the port counts
with a 110.000 m2 yard
